Short P-Day

Dear Family and Friends,

Well, our Zone Leaders volunteered us to move one of their investigators for them from 11 o clock until 5. So, today wasn’t even really a P-Day. We have really no time, so I will just try to give y’all a quick update and pictures.

Beto and Yaneth

Beto and Yaneth are set for the 15th of December. We will have the wedding in the downtown chapel, then have a procession to the actual church building on the outside of town (it has a baptismal font) and have the baptism, and then a huge reception/Christmas party with Port Arthur branch! They are really excited. We had a great lesson with them where we talked about the Priesthood and Beto can have it and give his wife blessings if she is ever sick. They were really happy. So sweet. I wish y’all could meet them. He said, “finally I will get this muchacha to marry me.” and put his arm around her 🙂 so awesome!

Juan Padilla

Juan is doing good… but last night in a lesson he told us right at the end that his wife told him that she will leave him if he gets baptized. We really had to get back to the appartment for the night so we didn’t have time to talk about it. But he said that in the end, if his wife won’t support him, he will make his decision, and that will be to get baptized. Juan’s brother in law says that he doesn’t believe his sister will really leave. But before we push this any further, we have to make sure we aren’t going to split up a family here. Not sure what to do with this. Make sure and include Juan Padilla and his family in your prayers. But Juan and his daughters are going to church every week and reading from the Book of Mormon.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving was alright. We went out to Sour Lake for a big old Thanksgiving dinner Texas style at one o’clock and then we went back to the apartment. We had the whole day off. My only day off on the mission and … we COULDN”T EVEN SLEEP! It was terrible! So after a while we went to wal-mart and just spent some time there. It was packed! There were injuries and fights and all that! That’s what you get down here in the ghetto! haha it was crazy! Black Friday got started early. It kinda stunk being by ourselves all day. Out in Houston the missionaries told us they had a big old basketball tournament all day. That would have been awesome. Oh well, at least Elder Cope and I are like best friends so we got to spend it together and have some fun. Seriously though, we already have some plans to live together and do a bunch of stuff together after the mish! I love Elder Cope!

Visiting Cristo Rey

One funny story this week. Y’all know that church Cristo Rey? Well, we are so sick of people telling us they go there! Seriously, everyone from Beaumont to Orange says they go there! Which I don’t believe because it’s a tiny little chapel! So anyway we were so sick of it we decided to knock on the door and see what was so great about it one night! Long story short, they let us right in and we got to meet the pastor. Pastor Louis … from SPAIN! He is from a city near Pamplona! Just this super old guy that speaks Spanish just like I do! Elder Cope said it was weird to hear someone else besides me speak the true Spanish and not the Mexican form. It was awesome to talk to him! We had the same accent and everything. It was awesome! haha he was pretty funny. A little rude (that probably comes from being European 🙂 ) but funny. he asked “are you going become Catholic, or what?” over and over in a joking way. He said I was a shame to my country for ever leaving the Catholic church, haha. It was a pretty interesting and funny conversation. But now we get to tell people that we know him. We only talked for a couple minutes, but I thought it was cool to be talking to someone that spoke the same form of Spanish as I do for the first time on my mission! He even spoke in “vosotros!” legit!

Alright y’all, not much more to tell. Love y’all!
