Hey y’all!
Well, before I say anything else I want to start off this email with a proper …
“VIVA ESPANA!!!”
A 2 European Championships and a world cup – back to back to back? What can I say? No one can touch Spain!
haha the perks of being in a Spanish ward and having an awesome dad. You’re not 100% oblivious when awesome stuff happens!
Bike Trouble
Man, y’all, I don’t know what it is but the flat tire pixies have a thing for me! So get this… I get my bike back from the shop last week, ride it around the church parking lot for a couple minutes cuz I was so excited, and then it blows up! I finally got it fixed after working on the axle and the brakes for about an hour and I loaded it onto the car.. I made sure it wasn’t leaking ANYWHERE. when I took it off to start biking half an hour later… flat again! What the? I was seriously soooo mad! haha it’s pretty comical.
Jackie With the President
Well we had a lesson with Jackie on Tuesday and president wanted to come with us. It went really well. She had read Alma 32 like we asked her to and she really got a lot out of it. I think we are making some progress with her. She is seriously so sweet. I just can’t help but keep feeling that one day, Jackie will be baptized. She’s just a little different. But she did come to church this week!
We got a couple of sweet new investigators this week.. so we are pretty excited for that. It is getting unbelievably hot and humid here! it’s seriously indescribable. Dang, there aren’t any mountains out here which is a bummer but let me just tell y’all… it makes up for that in gorgeous clouds and sunsets.
Elias Family
The end of our week was hampered a little bit because the hermanas were moving to a new apartment so we had to help them and then we had to help some other missionaries move. We had a lesson with the Elias Family, and they had a hang up on the whole “we were already baptized catholic” thing. We talked about it for awhile and they said they would do their best to find and answer and then go from there which is all you can ask for really.
Transfers?
That being said.. some more exciting news. I’m being transferred. I guess it’s exciting in the sense that I have no idea what’s going to happen to me, but mostly it’s just sad because I really love this ward. I am going to miss it! Everyone here is awesome.
We just got back from fishing this morning. The Duarte family took me and Elder Worrell one last time since I’m being transferred.
So Saturday night when the call came I new exactly what was going to happen but I didn’t want to believe it. When I got the call to leave my previous area at Broadway, I was sad but I packed in an hour. I don’t have that much stuff. I still haven’t been able to pack yet. It’s gonna be hard leaving here!
The ward said they are setting up a Family Home Evening for me and hermana Tueller (another missionary that is leaving here) which really is just another excuse for Mexicans to party. It will be great. Apparently everyone is going, it sounds like it will be a lot of fun.
Well, that’s about it. I’m feeling a little better but I am going to have to go to the doctor to get some tests done. Hopefully everything comes out ok!
I’ll let y’all know about transfers… my options are: Galena park (the ward next to us, which has been baptizing like nuts!!), Westlake Houston ( a branch next to us – the elder there is awesome but I don’t want to go there – it’s a car area), and the possibility of me going back to Broadway!!! they opened up a new elder area there and the elder that is staying there is sweet! I’m keeping my fingers crossed for there! But the Lord does what he wants.
Love y’all!
Elder Viitanen
