Hello everyone,
Has anyone read the poem “He’s Been There Before.” It’s by a missionary I can’t remember his name but it’s quite good.
Leo
I know a lot happened this week but I don’t know what to talked about. Elder Bruneel called and told me they had a lesson with Leo and his Dad, basically to ask permisison if Leo could be baptized. Leo’s dad is one of those guys that says they’re catholic but doesn’t really know why. Just has a bunch of saints up everywhere and candles around a huge pan he found at work that he claims he saw Jesus’s face in. He worships it… anyways. He said no. Pretty sad stuff. Leo has to respect that because he lives with his father. It broke my heart.
Car Being Fixed
Tuesday, I lost my wallet but luckily a ward member said that they found it yesterday so we will go pick it up today. We had to spend the day in beautiful Baytown to get our car tuned up and had them work out a factory recall thing on the car so that pretty much shot our whole day because after we had to get the oil changed it was the worst!!!! So boring I would much rather be doing missionary work.
Little Mexico
We started knocking on Friday in an area we haven’t seen a lot of yet. It’s WONDERFUL. It’s Mexico!!! Hispanics, everywhere, mariachi music blasting, horses, cows, and trucks everywhere, “virgencitas” (virgin Marys) on all the windows. The houses are all run down. To make it even better. It’s in the COUNTRY!! It’s beautiful!!! Finally, this is what I’ve been waiting for down here in Texas! We are going to be knocking the heck out of that area this week I am excited!!!!
Heat
It’s heating up quite a bit here. It’s only 85 but it feels a lot hotter and the humidity doesn’t help.
Exchanges with Elder Robles
Saturday I had exchanges with Elder Robles in Pasadena. I love that elder! He’s my favorite little Mexican 🙂 We had an awesome day, we started it off teaching a couple the restoration. It was a two-hour long lesson and they just soaked up every word and asked all the right questions!! The wife said that she drives past the temple every day and missionaries keep contacting her and she feels like God is just trying to tell her something. Then we talk to Ms. Shenodah. A white lady that the Pasadena elders have found a while back. She is so funny and lovable but she just refuses to accept the Book of Mormon. So we had a lively but respectful conversation with her. She loves us and she KNOWS this is true!! But, oh well. One day… Elder Robles is so funny. He told her to remember his brown eyes because one day she will see them again and she will realize that what we said is true! Haha, she is such a fun lady. We met a really funny drunk guy too. He gave us both big hugs. I love Mexicans!!! Haha
Car Accident
Later in the day we got in a car accident!!!!! It wasn’t my fault she hit us from behind and it was just a little scrape up but she came out and started swearing at us and telling us she was late for church and all this stuff so it was pretty comical. She was getting right up in our faces and swearing at us just this tiny little mexican lady with the cutest accent 🙂 We just remained calm until her husband got there and he was pretty chillaxed we got the whole thing figured out. She settled down, but she never apologized for saying that we are “so proud with your many womens!!” We ended the day with a member family at Texas Roadhouse! Pretty boss!!
While I was gone, Elders Van Slooten and Sorenson did some crazy good work! They found a bunch of new potential investigators and got it done! I’m excited to work in our little Mexico area we found! They also saw Jackie and her brother and they are doing way good but they are moving to Baytown on Friday 🙁 oh well, there are some good Elders there. Jackie came to church too and loved it!!
A Good Week
Well it was a really good week. I am super excited for the next! We are going to start seeing some results. I am soooo excited for conference guys like I can’t even describe it!! Those men truly are men of God!!
This Sunday night we will have another Missionary choir fireside. I will be playing the violin on a lot of songs I’m really stoked. There are some beautiful arrangements, my favorite is an arrangement of the song “That Easter Morn.” I LOVE that song. I will try and record the songs and email them home so my dad can put them up for yall to see.
Well, I love yall! hope you have a great week!
Love,
Elder Viitanen

Pretty awesome Elder. Texas does get pretty hot. A lot hotter than it is now. Good job brother.
