Dear Family and Friends,
Well, this week was better than last but things still aren’t looking great over here. We taught a lot more lessons but most of them were to less actives and recent converts. Actually, we have seen some good come from it. We’ve set up dinners with two part member families. We have one tonight actually so we will see how it goes.
Mission Leadership Conference
Tuesday we had Mission Leadership Conference. It’s a lot of fun because we get a lot of time with President Crawford and then we get a sweet lunch in the mission home. But since we had to load up all of our zone’s supplies after the meeting and since Kingwood is so far we didn’t get back until later in the evening.
Zone Meeting
Nothing much else to report… we had a pretty good zone meeting where we had three different breakout sessions each based on a different topic. I led the one on the baptismal invitation. Really, I think that if the invitation is extended the way it’s supposed to be the answer should always be “yes.” All we are doing is presenting information about the restoration, applying it to them, giving them the tools to know if it is true, and then inviting them to “prepare.” Not to “know right now.” I learned a lot from it.
Exchanges
Then, on Saturday, I got to go on exchanges with Elder Fryer, one of my old companions, who is now in Denver Harbor, one of my old areas. It was so fun to get to ride around my old stomping grounds with Elder Fryer. There were so many things that happened! Every corner and street I would think of a memory that Elder Erickson and I had while we served there. And of course, I got to do my favorite thing to do in Denver Harbor…. kick dogs!!!!! There was one that was coming in to bite my leg and I kicked it so hard!!! Right in the face. Don’t worry he deserved it. It was kick or get bit! And of course we got to visit the mission-famous black dog on Mendez Street “peligroso.” That thing is mean!!
Also we were able to go try people I used to teach. We stopped by Jacky, who is one of my favorite former investigators. She was so solid, but her fire just went out. We talked for only like 15 minutes. She was really different. It’s pretty obvious she isn’t living the gospel. She isn’t living any gospel. She isn’t even reading the Bible. It’s sad.
We were also able to see Polo Martinez who has now turned into the missionary grandpa even though he has yet to come to church haha. It was just a good day and was topped off by an awesome dinner with the Ortega family. Hermana Ortega made my favorite dinner of hers… some grilled fajita with flour torillas. I overdid it. And then, there was the classic Denver Harbor feeling of riding your bike home with your stomach about to burst. I love it there!
Well that’s pretty much how it went! We are still trucking along over here. I thought it was going to cool down a little bit but it’s still pretty dang warm!
The BYU – University of Houston game is this Saturday. It’s going to be five minutes from where I live. For those of you who know me you know how hard that is going to be for me. yeah………….
Love you all!
