Dear Family and Friends,
BEAUMONT IS LEGIT!!! Granted, it’s a car area, and it’s really big, and there aren’t many Hispanics, but it’s just boss! I’m starting to like it! It’s weird because we are on the other side of the mission where a few things are different but it’s really not that bad. we had a sweet zone conference this week too!
Gas Money
Here’s a miracle story! We were driving back with our Branch President from a lesson and he needed gas. none of us had money. He said all he needed was like two gallons of gas. We pulled into a random station and it was deserted. There on the ground was 7 bucks! enough for 1.945 gallons! The Lord provides!
Dunia, Yanet, and Yamileth
Well, here is a three amigas update. Turns out, Dunia moved back in to her old house. And her “landlord” is her BOYFRIEND and they are now living together. I was pretty bummed to hear that. BUT the good news is that he now wants to start learning and coming to church as well. And we are talking about getting a wedding set up for them, and for Yanet, who’s husband also wants to be baptized!
Dunia has a sweet testimony, but we are working with them and hopefully we can get them all married and baptized!
Also, their friend Yamileth is hitting it off with another recent convert in the area and she has a date for baptism for the 15th! She is super excited! They all came to church yesterday. Everyone else’s dates are for the 22nd. we have a lot of work to do before then! We will see!
Mission Call a Year Ago
I can’t believe that a year ago this week I had my mission call. I had no idea what Houston or the mission would be like. No idea. I won’t lie, I was a little disappointed.
This week, I was thinking about my experience on the mission and how it has changed me. I can honestly say I have never been happier than I have been out here on the mission. I will be a pretty sad boy when I have to pack up my bags one last time. I love Texas.
Thanks for all your love and support, and for all the birthday wishes!
Love,
Elder Viitanen
P.S. An update on Yaneth (baptism from Denver Harbor) she got kicked out because of her baptism, but is now living with another member family! The elders told me she is happy she found the gospel!
Javier (from Denver Harbor as well) has a baptismal date for the 15th of September! I am hoping I get to go! I’m so happy for him! also,
Polo is not doing to well. The doctors think it is about time for him to die. Please keep Polo Martinez in your prayers. He loves the gospel and the missionaries but doesn’t have the strength to come to church or be baptized right now.
