Dear Families and Loved Ones of the Missionaries of T.H.E. Mission,
We are thankful to you for your love and support of not only your missionary but for all the missionaries of the Texas Houston East Mission. We have felt the power of your prayers and we thank you. We have been touched by the miracles, large and small, generated by the faith and good works of the magnificent missionaries of this mission. We sound like a broken record, but we love these wonderful elders and sisters in their service to the Lord.
We have invested a significant amount of time over the past months focusing on “our purpose” as missionaries. In every meeting we all stand and repeat the purpose which is to: “Invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end.” They repeat the purpose statement in both English and Spanish and it is wonderful to hear. However, we are asking more of them. We want them to not only repeat the purpose but more importantly live it more fully and completely every day. We want them to look at every activity, from planning, to study to preparation, to teaching, to member visits, to how they spend their day, through a “Purpose Filter” to make sure everything we do is centered on our purpose as missionaries. We invite you to help us reinforce those points in your communications to your missionaries.
We are also reading the Book of Mormon as a mission with the focus on looking for examples of faith leading to miracles. If your missionary hasn’t already asked you, we invite you to join with us in reading the Book of Mormon with an eye on “Faith Unto Miracles.” Please share what impresses you from your reading. Our intent is to help increase the individual and collective faith of the missionaries to more ably fulfill our purpose to bring a greater number of people to Christ. Our reading started on January 1 with completion by April 30th. We have attached our reading schedule so you can be unified with us.
